This subject has been quite a topic this past few weeks. But is there anyone out there in Titanic land that agrees with or any other comments would be grateful.

Thanks. :pint: :hammer:

Hi Superbowl!

It certainly is true to say that this topic keeps arising.

I've offered some comments in the other thread as to my own personal views.

Meanwhile, I cannot think of any respected researcher who believes that the theory is correct. Certainly, people have considered it (a Historian should never dismiss something without investigation), and concluded it could not have happened.

That said, it does continue to pop up in various mediums!

Best wishes,

Mark.

Hi Superbowl!

There are pros and cons, certainly. However, what I find interesting is that many of the 'pros' presented by Gardiner and other conspiracy theorists are considered inaccurate or irrelevant by many who have spent lots of time in the field.

For instance, the idea that Olympic's keel was 'broken.' It is been comprehensively disproved. I've just noticed the other thread where Booty has also mentioned the photographs. When the 'pros' are points like these, which certainly support the theory but are not based in fact, the theory's foundations collapse.

Best wishes,

Mark.

Hi superbowl,

When do you think it started?

If Robin did not start the theory, then it is quite strange to think that he was the first to publish books on the topic.

I don't regard Paddy the Pig as a reliable 'theory starter.'

As far a I know I don't think their is any evidence that Pady the pig was aboard Titanic except for his word.

It's the same with many aspects of the theory.

As an aside, it's interesting how so many people -- who might not even know the details or the theory of who Gardiner is -- have heard of the theory.
