Eventually after I'm finished with the fantasy I've been working on, I want to try and see what kind of people and characters I can look for to get some ideas.
Does anyone know a good place to start looking for people(survivors or those who died) and research on the ship and its parts and decks and all that stuff. thanks ahead of time!

IS VIOLER JESAP THE ONE WHO SURVIVED BOTH THE TITANIC
AND THE OTHER SISTER SHIP? BECAUSE IF SO I AGREE
A STORY ABOUT HER LIFE WOULD BE FANTASTIC.

She was on Olympic, then she was placed on Titanic. Then in WW1 she was on the Britannic. After the war she went back to Olympic.

Thomas Andrews has always been a bit of Enigma to me. He seemed to be the only person onboard the ship who comprihended the magnitude of the disaster from the moment he inspected the damage. Yet what I find interesting is the way in which he dispensed this information in a clear calm manner. He certainly needed to be a practical thinker being a ship builder etc. I believe that he had a better understanding of the events following the sinking than Captain Smith had. Certainly Andrews was concerned about the passengers throughout the ordeal (Smith was concerned as well) but somehow Andrews new more about the logistics involved and the scientific part of it. Therefor I find it a fascinating charactaristic that Andrews had not to panic and yet understand the full impact of the events without being struck numb with shock. I think James Cameron's Titanic was accurate in portraying Andrews' reaction to Passengers who still did not believe that anything was wrong with the ship. Peolple were in the smoking room drinking while the ship was reaching the end of it's life minute by minute. And Andrews was aware but did not panic. Instead, he informed those who deemed it important to know what was going on and advised everyone he could. I think he was a brave man.

I think it's good that you think of Thomas Andrews as a brave man but from what you are saying you are going by James Cameron's movie version of him. Cameron depicted Andrews in a good light, yes but if I were looking for an opinion of Andrews I would not go by some Hollywood version at all
