Appart from a few details the difference between Titanic and her sister's was the name plate. Now on the back of the ship it did say Titanic and the port of registry 'Liverpool' but at the front of the ship the name was not written.

There is a picture on this site which shows Titanic during construction and the picture was scanned this photo into someones computer at high resolution and blew it up to examine the lettering more closely.
Assuming that the man is not a midget (whitch can be seen on the top right of the letter 'C') , and at least 5 feet tall, they would estimate that the lettering (if really on the hull) would be at least 4 feet tall. A MEAN 4 FEET TALL WHERE THEY DRUNK.

After blowing it up it becomes apparant that the lettering had been hand painted in. This would explain why whenever you look at a picture of Titanic, the lettering is so clear. Just make sure you ar looking at Ttanic and not Olympic.

So someone has spent a while going throught the pics doing this. A just wanted to know why, but it probably means nothing.

There are other pictures obviously after the construction where the name is not seen and then another where it is and this to and thrown goes on and on. So what was going on did they not like the font or something.

It is obvious the lettering has been re-painted because the lighting is different and it is not on straight. All the letters are on different rows like one is an inch higher or lower and the letters are not completly straight.

There is no evidence of their ever been writing on the front but there is at the back for there is differences in the colour , but i'm no expert on how metal roats.. To my knowledge anyway.

Here is the pic

Hi Bell!

Yes, that photo you posted is one where someone has touched up the name. I think they just wanted to enhance the image.

Best wishes,

Mark.

That fact had been documented some time back. Here are more oddball facts on the Titanic.

Hi Bell!

*But what I want to know did it have it's name written on the hull on the maiden voyage*

Yes, IMHO. I've never seen anything to indicate that this wasn't the case. After all, the retouched photo was taken in 1911 before the ship was even launched.

Best wishes,

Mark.

I know but from any pics ave seen there is no name, but they are 94 years old. It was also stated that there is no evidence of the name on the wreck. But a think that is silly after all 94 years in cold waters, little no wonder why the name has faded.

u said '94 years ........yes'

what is the long pause about, i've seen many ppl use this type of answer and it is usually, in a hostile mannor.

i am annoying u then take it up with me in a PM, and we can sort it out. Though u have written things to annoy me and I take them with good humour. Can u do the same?
