Hi There,
As to who found the Titanic, I'm sure somewhere i have some info on a French expedition that found the Titanic a year before Ballard, I will dig it out and post later. Cinatit

I'm fairly certain it was him, however, just because he is the one known for it does't mean it was him. Example being Christopher colombas, many people think it was him that found America, but we know it was found before that, so in that respect, am open to being sweade towards the alternate theroy.

If two of them claimed that they found it first there would have been a court case or sumthing.

but there wasn't, so i think that ballard found it first due to the publicity

Hi There,
I 'm sure you are right just check a book i have called "Encylopedia of Underwater and Maritime archaeolgy" And Where i got confused was and i quote the following passage from said book, which was published in 1997.
"there have been seven expeditions to the site of the Titanic wreck over nine years, commencing with the 1985 joint expedition from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Massachusetts, and the Institute Francais de Research pou l'Exploitation de la Mer (IFREMER), France led by Dr Robert Ballard and Jean Louis Michel, Which located the ship which located the wreck" As i say it some time ago that i read this and thought it was the frenchman that had made the first discovery of her, but i stand corrected i was wrong, Cinatit
