There was an underwater earthquake in the 1920's just near the Grand Banks. Many believed that this caused a mud slide which should have buried the wreck. Luckily the quake did not cause a slide in the area near the Titanic wreck as was feared at the time.

Just exactly where the quake occured is still unclear to me.

Let me clear it up for you Clinton. On November 18, 1929, at 017:02 Newfoundland time, an earthquake (epicenter of 44.5°N, 56.3°W) occurred off the coast of Grand Banks, Newfoundland. It measured as a 7.2 on the Richter Scale. This also triggered a tsunami which caused $400,000 in damage and killed 29 people, the highest death toll attributed to an earthquake in Canada.
But as we all know today it did not effect the Titanic as the bow at Latitude: 41° 46' N and Longitude: 50° 14' W shows not sign of any mudslides at all in the aera.

So that should also help clear up Johno's statement.

Thank you Captain Jack. Now I know the exact information regarding the quake. How did they know about the Grand Bank in 1929? Was the technology to such a degree at that time?

no. they had a richter scale back then. they also had instruments to tell them where the earthquake was.

The bow, it went under first, and also the fact it was heavier so there would of been extra momentum, so it fell faster, then as water preesure increaded it slowed a bit. Basically if it was a race, bow had a head start, and was faster, so i think the bow hit first.
