Welcome to the form. Britannic was the third of the olympic class ships, which included, Olympic and Titanic. They where all prety much identicle to each other, apart from a few diferences. britannic was used by the brit MOD and the ship struck a mine and sank. She never completed a trans atlantic voyage, nor did she even start one. Britannic was bigger than Titanic, and Olympic was about the same size also, only because Titanic was heavier was she said to be bigger than Olympic. Britannic was wider so therefor bigger. 30 or so people died on Britannic, on it's way to pick up thousands of wounded soldiers, if she sank on the way back, the britannic tradagey, may have been worce than Titanic's.
Good day, |

I do believe, and Mark, correct me if Im wrong (Though i know you will anyways, lol), Kea Island was only a short distance, maybe a few miles or so, away. had all the watertight doors been closed and the portholes been shut, there was a very good chance of the skipper getting her beached. However, this was not the case, and the forward motion only made things worse. Plowing forward forced more water into her hull than would have enetered had she sat still, and this made lifeboats more difficult to launch, most of them capsized, and one was sucked into the churning screws. Britannic lies in a shallow 350 feet of water, indicating the the shoreline was not very far away. Today, 350 ft is a moderate dive, and I truly think that diving on a sister of Titanic would be an extraordinary feeling. Being able to physically touch the ship would be exhilerating.
