To date from my records the RMS Titanic, Inc. has recovered over 5,500 objects from the wreck site, ranging from delicate porcelain dishes to a 17-ton section of the hull. RMS Titanic, Inc. has conducted seven research and recovery expeditions to the Titanic's wreck site in 1987, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2004.

I'm not sure the sight could have afford much more salvaging. At that rate if it was allowed to continue then in that many more years there would be no debrie field.

I personally am against any recovery of items from the sight. We aren't going to learn nothing we don't already know about civilization from any dishes, shoes or eye glasses we don't already know about the 1912 period of shipping & travel.

Just let them rest in their final resting place.

I was wondering if there is any way we can all protest about titanic salvaging, is their a site or official protest?

Any way I for one am Totally AGAINST TITANIC SALVAGE!
Unless it is for a very good research reason that would then have to be justified!

I have added a survey to see what the rest of you think!

i was on a website last night that said that we had to salvage some stuff, or else we'll lose the items forever. after all, one day the titanic will eventually collapse, whether it's today, tomorrow, a year from now, or even another 100 years. we just don't know.

however...

i agree. salvaging the items from the titanic is disrespecful to the dead. let them rest in peace!!!
