Well, if you think about it, Rose killed two people by jumping from the boat to the ship. He killed a woman that could have gone in the boat, and she killed Jack, cause Jack couldn't get on the piece of debris and stay afloat because Rose was already there.

Rose and Jack could both have survived if they both would have kept their legs in the water when being on the piece of debris. When you only have your legs in the water, your vital organs stay above it and u can last way longer. The lifeboat would have picked them both up...but indeed, it is a movie and would not have been as romantic as it is now if Jack had survived

Stupid or not, the charther was also untrustworthy, unfaithful and dubious.

i think titanic65 reasons are very truthful and i would beleive if i saw my life as i already lived it with the same thing like partys and only doing things to make u richer i would want to comit suicide but of course i am not rose and i am 13 and i understand alot of things some people dont get sometimes even better than my parents in movies

yes of course if she had stayed in the darn lifeboat then Jack only wouldv'e had to look out for himself and then he woudv'e found the debris and survived and they could have alll lived happily ever after.

Even if Jack and Rose both could have survived on the wood, I am sure James Cameron would not have filmed it that way. I think part of the reason for filming it as is is to show the audience that not every couple stayed together. Yes, in the end you see women on the deck of the Carpathia, weeping for the men they have lost. But those are characters you have not met. Rose you have been following for 2+ hours and probably feel more connected with. So the loss of Jack makes the sinking all the more tragic and emotionally heart-wrenching.
I don't think Rose is stupid. I also could not judge her because I do not know for sure what I would do if placed under those circumstances. I think most of us could guess what we would do, but you never know for sure until you are placed in that situation. But under the circumstances (having just left the only comforts she had ever known and the safety of her fiancee and mother), she did the best she could.

yessss but even if she did grab the lifejackets it wouldntve mattered because:

a) Titanic had enough lifejackets for everyone on board
b) people died from the cold and not from drowning

ALSO i may only be 14 so i dont know much bout stuff but i think rose wasnt stupid just not thinking straight and in that posistion, wouldnt you stay with the one you loved?
i suppose it depends how much you loved them and if you were willing to sacrifice your own life to stay with someone till the end i think you should be called brave and not stupid.

James Cameron wanted a tragic and sentimental movie..
if you would've seen jack alived.. so? where would have been the sadness of watching the movie? I mean.. those are smalls details that can change all the view of the movie..

If Jack would have survived.. I think all people would have been happy... and what would have happened with the sinking of titanic??

Remember that the movie is about the sinking.. Jack and Rose are just the ones that connect us with it..

Titanic is N0T a happy movie.. so.. jack and rose couldn't have been together..

The way the script was written was to make all people apreciate the loss and the sinking.. the links that connects us as I said.. it's jack and rose.. =P

Maybe Jack and Rose did get back together at the end of the movie. When (old) Rose gets to sleep at the end you see a bunch of pictures where she's on a horse etc.

The next scene takes us back to Titanic where Rose meets Jack at the gran staircase surrounded by only the people that have died on the Titanic.

Maybe, Rose travelling back to Titanic and to the people that have gone with it, is actually the death of (old) Rose and here union with Jack.
