Plans for the Titanic Tourist Project have been unveiled in Belfast. The £100m project will include a hotel( the old H&W Office building will be converted), a conference centre, a visitor centre built on the actual slipway where she was built, part of the Arrol Gantry to be rebuilt, and a full scale model of Titanic will be built in the Thompson dock, although it will be made of ropelight and will be illuminated at night to be seen from anywhere in Belfast.
The project is expected to be completed before the 100th anniversary of her sinking in 2012, although it still has to be agreed by Belfast City Council. For more details check out; http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/northern_ireland/4141684.stm What do you think should be included/excluded? More importantly, will it make more people want to come to Belfast to visit her birthplace if there will be something to see? Strider_uk |
