Why would Rose EVER contact her mother again? She is snotty and hell bent on keeping Rose in check. Further, having contact with Ruth can guarantee a visit from Cal. Ruth would have told Cal exactly where she was.

I think that Rose prefered the stern, and her mother prefered the bow. The difference is between the stern, and the bow.

I don't think Rose would have. Her mother doesn't necessarily care about Rose's wants, she cares about her own. She is more worried with being rich and wealthy than helping Rose be happy. Because of her greed, she would have no doubt told Cal where to find Rose, and they would be in the same position as the beginning of the movie.

I have often wondered.. if Rose Dawson became an actress in the 20's, wouldn't her mother or Cal have recognized her? Or maybe she wasn't a very big actress and wasn't in much, I don't know.

Hmmmm.....good point. Maybe Ruth croaked shortly after the ship sank and never saw Rose on the big screen. You know, movie houses were not as accessible as today and without radio and tv, there wasn't entertainment news available, therefore it is quite possible that Rose could have worked in movies without being found. Also, maybe Ruth went back to Europe after the sinking and never caught word of her daughter's new career........so many possibilities..........Cal killed himself in 1929, so he was out of the picture.....I dunno....good question.

Well, with becoming an actress Rose would have had money and if she had contact with her mother, she would have had to share her wealth with Ruth...no I don't think she did.
