i'm new to this conversation and so if i say anything that was already said plz forgive me!
rose didn't contact her mother cuz she was sick and tired of being controlled which is also y she hid from Cal at the end!and her mother only cared about money and her position. she didn't want to give any of that up. she only wanted Rose to marry Cal for the money and because he was considered first class material. |

I agree in some points, but I don't think Ruth was a selfish person who only wanted Cal's money. She wanted to save her and her daughter's life - mostly Rose's, I think. However, I don't think they had contact after the sinking - maybe not because they didn't want to, but finding each other was much more difficult then. |

true! but in their room, ruth was talking to rose and she was saying things about cal and his money and how she didn't want to be a seamstress!
