Is the Heart of the Ocean real or fake? I was just wondering, cause if it was real, it would probably be worth millions.

I wish it was real, but I don't think so. The one in the movie wasn't and I think it was made for the movie. But you can buy replicas ranging from twenty to a two hundred dollars. I think the highest I've seen is two hundred.

i think that it is very real...do not forget that in the movie..the old woman was one of the people who survived and told of the necklace...because she had it ..it was hers..they have pictures of it too.

The heart of the ocean used at the movie was a fake.. I'm assuming it would have been much more expensive to get that necklace than all the set made for the movie lol...

don't ya' think? :P

wow, I can't believe this was actually asked..lol.. it was fake.. and doesn't exist. (However, it WAS modelled after the Hope Diamond)
Well, I mean, it wasn't a real diamond and what not. They did make it, I heard, out of semi precious sapphire and white gold.
After the movie, I also heard a jewler was inspired to make a REAL one.. real diamond and everything, and it sold at an auction for 2.2 million.....
Also after the movie, a few places made authentic replicas of the necklace.... meeting certian guidlines to be able to call themselves authentic...lol...
Now, those have stopped, and people are still making some and only claiming them to be authenticated replicas. ( I know this cuz my aunt worked for the company who first started making them, and still worked there when they stopped)

If anyone wants to buy them, I had one, they're cute, you can yahoo it.... just type in heart of the ocean necklace and a ton of stuff comes up. :)

i swear the person who played Rose as an old woman isnt a real survivor
my history teacher said that she's just an actress and i was quite disappointed about that

The woman who played Old Rose is Gloria Stuart and no, she is not a Titanic survivor.
I know James Cameron and the historians for the film, Don Lynch and Ken Marshall, consulted with some of the existing survivors, so it is possible that Old Rose's story could be a mix of their testimonies and memories. But for the film, Rose, Old Rose, Cal, Jack, and Ruth are all fictional characters.

Although she isn't a real Titanic survivor, she did a good job in the part she played in the movie.
