On ITV on the 29-12-2005. Just wanted to knwo your thoughts on the programme if you watched it.

I liked it but was quite undetailed, but maybe that is just undetailed for me because I knew the details given already.

I saw Titanic: Birth of a Legend and although it didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know, I did find it unique in it's approach and the special effects were good. If it's on again I recommend people see it.

It was very good I thought, havent seen anything similar to do with titanic atleast so all credit to the makers of it. Was very well detailed, even at the begining when he scetches the ship, it has 3 funnels as was the original desing, things like that and more made it a well made detailed titanic related programme. High recomended!

Saw it for the second time last night, must say everytime I see it I always find it fascinating. Great CGI work and pretty accurate information too. Pretty good documentary.

I liked the way it showed the diffenece between Thomas Andres and his uncle who was the original chief designer, I think it's a common misperception that Andrews designed ths ship. And also it showed why Andrews uncle walked off the job - he was the only person with any common sense out of the bunch.

Thats a very good point silverfire, Thomas Andrews is known to most as the chief designer, but indeed Alexander Carlisle was the man who origianlly came up with the Olympic class design. Carlisle knew that the British Board Of Trade regulation for ships 10,000 tons and over was very out of date (it had not been changed since 1894) and insisted on more lifeboats (48 in fact), but of course money came into a factor as always and thats one of the reasons 1,500 souls perished. I don't blame Carlisle for quitting, he knew that the unthinkable could happen and that precaution should be taken. It's just unfortunate that it had to turn out the way it did.
