That the kitchen staff (French and Italian) were locked into E DECK aft and left there. Their shoes were found on the bottom. They probably lived until they reached 800 feet. They still had small airpockets. The concept, to me, of plunging down 2.5 miles is terrifying. Mr. Marconi, the inventor of the Marconi machine, was never told about his countrymen's last wereabouts on the ship. All staff perished. There was one cook that survived after drinking whiskey.
