I credit Dr. Robert Ballard for sparking my interest in the RMS Titanic. When I was 6 years old I read a childrens book he wrote called "Finding the Titanic". I was so fascinated by this book that I read it over and over and drew pictures of the great liner. Over the years this fascination just grew and grew and continues to grow even today. It has also led me to learn about many other ships and shipping lines of the early 20th century, which I also study. I hope to persue a career in underwater exploration in the near future. Thank you Dr. Ballard.

My interest with Titanic actually began with the 1998 film. I had never had the chance to really study Titanic in school- all I knew was it was a ship that sank in like 1912 and a lot of people died. But I didn't know anything specific. Then I saw the film, and the scene where Rose has just come to the surface of the water and is looking for Jack, the camera pans up and shows everyone struggling in the water for miles around. That shot really got me. 1500 is a large number but that shot showed you exactly what 1500 looks like...I couldn't believe it. After the film, not only did I have a new favorite movie, but I began buying every Titanic book I could find. I like reading about it and learning new things. I am also kinda interested in the Britannic and the Lusitania but I have not read about them as much. Originally, I just searched different websites on Titanic for information, but then I saw this website and all the information on it. <img src="http://www.titanic.com/uploads/smil3dbd4d4e4c4f2.gif" alt="" />

I first became interested in Titanic, when James Cameron movie came out. I remember seeing it in the movie theatres, I was in the second grade, with my mother, and walking out at the end crying. I fell in love with the movie. From then on, every time I was assigned to do a history project, I would always do mine about Titanic. Over the years my interest with her has grown more into a passion.

The first time I heard Titanic's name, it was the news reporters telling of Dr. Ballard's dicovery of the wreck in '85. I was 8 at that time and not much into the news. I think I actually said 'good for him... what is Titanic?'

Then in '87, I was really depressed (I think the dog died or something), and I grabbed a book - any book, I was trying to cheer myself up. Wouldn't you know it. It was A Night To Remember! Soon I found myself "hooked" on Titanic! I was buying everything that had "Titanic" written on it or even remotely related to the Titanic.

Well, here I am 28 years old and still hooked on Titanic. Glad to say I now know more than than I did 20 years ago! I've read almost every book printed about Titanic (including Lawrance Beesley's book Loss of the SS Titanic, printed in June of 1912).

I've also seen almost every Titanic movie from Titanic (1953) to Titanic (James Cameron's movie)! and almost every documentary that's aired on tv and on video tape. I even was a tour guide during the Wonders Titanic The Exhibition in Memphis, TN in '97!
I'm glad to say I now know Titanic and I'm still learning.
