I think if Titanic had driven right into the iceberg just the front of the ship had get broken. When she turned to left and hitted the iceberg whole the side broke. But of course when you have the commando of the worlds biggest ship and there are standing an iceberg right ahead it's impossible to not pannice. And in a pannice-situation you do what's looks best, not always what exactly is best. So I think the right answear had been to drive just into the iceberg, but if I had been i Murdocks situation there I also would had done the same.

Yeah, its a fact that if it wouldve hit the iceburg head on it wouldve only flooded 3 compartments and wouldnt have sunk

It is very difficult to turn a ship, at that speed, in order to avoid hitting the ice burg. If it was going a bit slower the inertia wouldnt have been so great and may have saved the ship also. The rudder would have had more control of the ship at a slower speed and it would have had more time to turn away. :shock: [/b:2dce9a2ce9]

Yeah..that's sad...just to know it could've been prevented..but oh well, that's in the past and unless someone can build a time machine, you can't change the past.
