In August of 1991, a team of explorers brought back proof from the wrecked Titanic to prove that it was indeed the Titanic. It seems that all of White Star Line's ships have a special symbol and number punched on all of the steel. After examining the hull the explorers saw the unmistakable number that clearly identified it as the Titanic. When they returned they released pictures and videos, which clearly dismissed this conspiracy.

We don't but an educated guess based on the information and data we have available would point to the conclusion Titanic did indeed sink on it's maiden vouage. However about the B-deck config problem, this is true, however at launch looking at Titanic, her B deck and A deck were remarkably similar to Olympic. For example from the photo's it would appear Titanic's forward A deck was not enclosed untill early march (month before the vouage) soooooo, if such a plan was in the work's it be very easy to just close the forward part of Olympic, rather than Titanic. Still, theres loads and loads more thing's to point back to the original theroy that Titanic did sink and not her sister. Plus the idea of switching and sinking one of the two largest ship's in the world does seem a little bit hollywood lol

Yes Martyn, I knew about the forward A deck inclosure, but I never thought the B deck windows looked similar.
It seems to me that Olympic's B deck windows are more regularly spaced (evenly). Titanic's B deck windows seem more grouped together in clusters (two hear, four hear) and so on. Do you know if Harland and Wolff made altercations to the B deck windows as well after launch? Maybe this was part of the change in putting in more cabins on Titanic (than Olympic had)? |

I can only guess they did buddy, you will need to squint your eyes a bit but here is Titanic on launch day and if you look at B deck the window's appear to be very evenly spaced appart, just like Olympic. There's ton's of thread's about this and in one I did a photo assesment, unfortunetly since then I have had my computer wiped and lost all the image's so for now this is the best one I have at my disposal.

Wow, I see your point now Martyn. Thanks for the pics to demonstrate.
Well, Olympic was about a foot shorter than Titanic. I guess the only think to do now is put a tape measure on a subs arm and measure the stern! |
