No Jack was a fictional person all the way. Rose was actually playing a person on some parts. One of the parts is when she went in the water and was rescued. Her real name was Rosa Abbott. She was a wealthy first class passenger and the only first lady passenger to go down in the water. She was one who was picked up from the water. You can also use my website for more information.

OH! I SO knew that...

Really Rose was actually playing somewhat a real character? That is neat! I know there was a guy named J. Dawson but not the same person as Leonard played him.

Yep. His name was Joseph Dawson. There was a tv special on him. His living relatives showed a photo of him. He doesn't look like Leo. He worked in the boiler rooms, moving coal from the bunkers to the stokers, so they could shovel it into the boilers. I hope they show it again, so I can record it.

Is it true Capt. Smith died on the ship?

His body wasn't recovered (at least from what I've read). I can only assume he stayed with Titanic 'til the end. As the saying goes: "a good captain goes down with the ship". I believe Captain Smith was an honorable man, who did just that. Whether he stood at the wheel (like in the movie), we may never know.
