Hey guys,

I'm new round here, so glad I found you all.

I was wondering if anyone knew what type of car Jack and Rose spent some time in. I've been asking lot's of car enthusiasts here in Australia and nobody seems so know.

I want to be able to buy a model of it to add to my collection.

I know it was a renault 35 hp automobile owned by passenger William Carter, perhaps that helps? I am not sure about model name, specifying 1912 renault should do.

Hope that helps ;)

hi, im new here. wife was watching movie again tonite. scene where the car is being loaded on ship popped up. i worked for paramount at the time of movie. titanic stuff went on tour after movie and i had responsibility of finding someone to transport car(my freind hauled it)
thats what lead me to this site.....as far as i know the movie car is in dead storage now.....i tryed to buy it,but to much movie crap, etc, etc.
car in movie was a 1909-1911 body no engine. it was just a roller. they couldnt get renalt wheels for it. so they put period kinda correct chevy wheels on it(center caps are chevy also,i should know i have one off the car)
hope this info helps.....stick

Thanks Stick, I will certainly have some info when I search the model dealers.

How exciting working for Paramount, I could live in the theatre/cinema if I had the opportunity. Hmmm maybe I should start a movie theatre in my home town, now there's a thought and perhaps just run all titanic doco's...... I'm not obsessed-really

According to the info I just read, William Carter's Renalt had a 25 horsepowered engine under the hood. It was listed on the manifest as "1 case auto." which leads many to speculate that the car wasn't fully assembled. After Titanic sank, William filed for $5,000 for the loss of the car.

$5,000 for a car! I paid @ $10,500 for My '98 Kia Sephia! Of coarse, money was different back then. They didn't have inflation like we have today! I've been digging thru all my info (books and so on), and still can't find the Renalt model (most just say "auto"). If I find anything that may shed some light on this 'mystery Renalt', I'll post it asap!

Everyone is just so helpful and friendly around here, thanks so much to you all for your help. I've been trying to find out about this car for about 5 years now so it is good to be finding all this info.
