[quote:6503e79c46="Betty"]Tom,
Did you read about the "locked gates" as seen by a few dives in an article or book? Betty[/quote:6503e79c46] It was in a documentary that I used to have (until it disappeared). :D |

Hmmm....... this subject always gets me thinking. i too have read contrasting stories. i read somewhere that the gates were unlocked and the reason most of third class weren't saved was because they didnt speak english and couldnt understand what was going on or anything.
but if teamtunas friend saw them locked with his own eyes then, i would guess thats the best source to believe. |

Bess,
Yes isn't it sad that many of the immigrants did not understand or speak English and so therefore did not know what the crew were talking about. Why didn't they have any crew members for 3rd class who could speak many languages. Well, maybe it would have helped and maybe not. But, the "locked gates" has always been one of my greatest research projects and I am always interested in it. It is interesting but sad |
