In the movie theatre I thought I remembered seeing a shooting star just before Rose discovers Jack has died. I've read that in a deleted scene, Jack tells Rose that a shooting star is the soul of someone who has just died returning to Heaven. If it was Cameron's intention to show that Jack died right before he could have been saved, it makes the scene even more sad, (even if he would have been so far gone from hypothermia that he would have died anyway). How long do you think Jack had been dead before Rose discovered he had died?

I also remember reading about that shooting star scene.

I think that Jack hadn't be dead for too long before she had discovered he was dead as his last speech showed that he was very weak and couldn't survive too much longer.

I believe, in my opinion, that Jack could have survived if only he and Rose would have taken turns on the wooden headboard that they were on!!!! I get kind of mad everytime I think of him dying in that movie because Rose knew that she could have offered him to switch and take turns with her while he was sitting there freezing his butt off in the water for her!!!!! Its just sad, I mean, Jack could have lived and they could have lived happily ever after , but no, all because she couldn't take the time out to at least offer to take turns with him. But you know, I mean I do think of the fact that maybe it was just to cold for either of them to think straight at that time. Any replies to what I have to say?

if rose would of stayed on the lifeboat, Jack could've lived! & if jack did live, there still would have been a movie.!. jack could of died in a car wreck or something & it would have still been sad.... catch my drift?!?

they were trying to make the movie as accurate as possible while still making it a love story.j. dawson (joseph dawson)died on the titanic and rosa abbott went into the water and survived.
