The QM2 is far larger, basically. The ideas behind [i:6ca3d857b4]Titanic II[/i:6ca3d857b4] all are based on keeping the same size the original was, which doesn't work out fiscally. If you want to make money in the cruise ship buisness today (that's the section of the industry we're talking here) you have two choices - either you rent the entire ship as a private cruise, or you go for size. The Princess Cruises and the like go with the mega-crise ships. QM2 has LOADS of people aboard as well, even if she's set up a bit different.
I worked for a bank in DC that actually researched this question. The way it comes out is that the [i:6ca3d857b4]Titanic [/i:6ca3d857b4]or [i:6ca3d857b4]Titanic II[/i:6ca3d857b4] is too small to pull a profit on any of the major cruises, but too big to be really rentable as a private cruise ship. It fits in the unprofitable middle. |

The QM2 is not really a replica of QM, she is more of a much improved modern younger sister to her. :D

Yes, Tom, but is a larger ship than [i:88fd156292]Titanic[/i:88fd156292] or [i:88fd156292]Titanic II[/i:88fd156292], if built, would be.

The QM2 makes Titanic look small and she cost about 450 million to build!
Cunard will make a good profit from QM2, but if a Titanic 2 was built, I do not think there would be much of a profit from her because the Titanic never did anything except sink, which is not good for publicity. :D |

Titanic 4 ever,
Wow, wouldn't that just be great, especially for anyone who really is a Titanic addict. To see the ship reproduced exactly as it was? What an experience and to be part of that great maiden voyage once again. I would assume though that tickets would be so outrageous in price, no one could afford to buy one? But we could dream |

I wouldn't even care what class or what I would have to do to be on the ship. I think it would be a once in a life time experience.
