I would like to hear from some of you that had relatives sail on the Titanic and know some of their stories (if you are willing to tell them).

Especially you lilcandycane! You stated a few times you had (3) relatives on the ship? Would you be willing to tell their stories?

ISH, by that I mean, my great grandfathers cousin was on it (was on Olympic to in the 20s to confront his fear), soooo I guess not but kind of! Theres a document he wrote shortly after the sinking explaning what he thought of and what have you, will need to get a copy of it and post it here. When I get the time!

Thanks Martyn, that's very interesting. Especially about your grandfather's cousin going on Olympic.

Will look forward to your future posts!

Wow. R.T Stead. I was expecting that as a lie but I just looked at the Documented Passenger List and it says:

"Stead, Mr. W. T."

He died? Tragic.

I have three people in my Family that went. 2/3 actually got onboard. They were all going to be first class:

Arthur Ryerson, he died when it sunk.
Emily Ryerson, she survived.

and
David Cranley, he missed the ship by a minute. He was just pulling into the Dockyard at Southampton when she started to pull away.

I am a new member of Titanc.com. I found your discussions very interesting. I see that the movie is on this weekend here in Chicago. So you had relatives on the titanic? Very tragic to your family? Do you and your family still live in France? My mother is from Paris and lives with me in Chicago.

I read this was a Fernand Omont from le Havre on board (survivor). My grandmother's name is Omont, by I know there are lots of Omont in Normandy, and I don't know how far she (and so, I) can be related to him.

Henry Fairall, Saloon steward. He was working on the Olympic, the family myth is that Captain Smith himself asked him to come over to the Titanic - and "Uncle" Henry decided to do so since the Titanic was a safer boat. Typical Fairall luck.
