The characters of Jack and Rose are fiction...Mr. Morley and Miss Phillips were eloping and traveled in second class. They boarded the ship together and he died in the sinking. The story of Jack and Rose was made up for the movie....

Yes, of course the story of Rose and Jack is fiction, but I read in the local paper that at a recent Titanic exhibition in Redcar, the audience was told that the story of Rose and Jack was based on Mr. Morley and Miss Philips
“The true love story of Henry Samuel Morley and Kate Louise Philips, which inspired the blockbuster movie, was told during an illustrated talk, called Love of the Sea.†This was from The Northern Echo. I wondered if anyone had any more information. |

I read that too but I also read that James Cameron wanted jack and rose to be totally fiction(he had more creative freedom that way)To be honest there were so many love stories on Titanic you could say it was based off any one...but I heard James Cameron say that he didn't want to base the charectors off anyone so he had more freedom in writing the story
