I've been doing some research on the stars the night [i:4f592bffa2]Titanic[/i:4f592bffa2] went down, and discovered a site that will allow us to see them as they were: http://skyandtelescope.com/observing/skychart/# . If you use this page, she went down at 41'44" north, 49'56" west. Don't forget to change the date and time or the chart will be off.
I also found a page about the Lyrids Meteor Shower - http://comets.amsmeteors.org/meteors/showers/lyrids.html - it is usually at its peak a few days after the disaster. If you recall, any number of passengers commented on the number of falling stars that night. I think it was the beginning of the Lyrids. |
