One of Harland & Wolff's two giant cranes, Samson, has been involved with a smaller crane whilst moving along the building dock at the shipyard. This took place on the 4th April, and is now being posted around the internet.
Footage of the incident was caught on mobile phone camera (see link below for video link). It is scarey!!! Miraculously no one was injured. It just goes to show you that a shipyard is still a dangerous place. Didn't something like 15 people die in the consruction of Olympic and Titanic?

Yes, I think so, or maybe it was right after the launch?
I seem to recall reading about a worker that was killed by falling timber when they were clearing the slipway after Titanic slid into Belfast harbor. |

2 workers were killed during the building of Titanic. James Dobbins was was killed after the launch of Titanic, he was found with his leg pinned under a large wooden post. He died the next day. The next workman to die was during the building of Titanic. Those are all I know of.

Interesting. I own a book called "882 1/2 Amazing Answers to your Questions about the Titanic." It only speaks of those two. I also had a CD mainly for a younger audience. And I remember again, it only spoke of those two. I will also try and look up some information on it.

P.S. - I wouldn't doubt it. There were 15,000 workers on the ship. And accidents back then I'm sure were very common. 8 wouldn't be too far fetched IMO.
