I think:

A Night To Remember (1958)
Titanic (1997)

Well, It's hard to decide which one of the two film is best

I think ANTR beats out Titanic(97') just because it contains much more facts. And it involves the Californian and Carpathia more.

Although I think A Night to Remember was the best, I always enjoyed SOS Titanic (1979) when I was a kid.

It has a pretty big rescue scene by the Carpathia, and you get to meet other passengers that were on the ship -Lawrance Beasley, Daniel Buckley, and such. The stories of the passengers are of course "hollywooded up", and the sets look nothing like the real Titanic (it was filmed on the Queen Mary), but the film does portray a very dramatic and hard hitting re-telling of the story. It has a haunting simple music score to the film as well that gives you the chills.

If you choose to buy this movie, I would recommend getting the longer VHS version, because for some reason the DVD version is horribly edited to the point that it is hard to watch (if you have seen it before).

By the way, Lawrance Beasley is played by David Warner (who played Lovejoy in Titanic (1997) ). Kind of cool.

Also, did anyone know that the guy that played Archibald Gracie in the new Titanic movie played Fredrick Fleet in ANTR?

MGY-- I did know that Warner played Lovejoy in Titanic(97')! When I watched SOS Titanic I instantly knew he was Lovejoy haha. He's an English actor. That is cool, I didn't know that the guy who played FF in ANTR played Archibald in the new Titanic movie. I just love ANTR because it goes through the popular passengers(Andrews, Ismay, Brown) and has scenes of what happend in terms of the sinking. For example, the scene when Barrett is in Boiler Room #5 and the bulkhead collapses...It's just great to see what actually was going on to why she sunk. I didn't like the iceberg collision scene on ANTR, Titanic(97) was the idle crash scene.

I liked Raise the Titanic when I was a kid. I rented it at the video store probably like 5 times when I was 10.

Heck, I bought it on Amazon a year ago on DVD because watching it takes me back to when I was a kid and the fantacy of Titanic being in that good of shape.

If you are a older Titanic buff who has never seen it, your going to think its absolutely terrible.

I saw the movie when I was like 8 or ten and just fell in love with it on the basis of:

"WOW!!! Imagine if Titanic was still intact, with almost all of her smokestacks intact and very little rust on the hull"!!!

Today, it is still kind of fun drift back into that childhood memory, when anything was possible, if that makes any sense.

But you know what, one of the best parts of the movie is the soundtrack- absolutely beautiful! I bought the soundtrack because hearing it just reminds me of the magesty of Titanic.
