I've heard them once before, but I found a youtube clip of the salvaged whistles being tested a few years ago. Maybe some of you have heard them, but for those who have not, please take 15 seconds and hear them!

THATS AMAZING! When, How, And Where was it?! That is so cool! I can't believe they still work and aren't destroyed from rusting. That is really cool.

I think the whistles are made of Bronze or something non- corrosive, so they would not rust, just tarnish from being under the ocean.
I would think they would have to be rust proof since steam (water) goes through them. Its amazing how different the real whistles sound from the whistles in any movie we have seen on the subject! You wonder if they had the right steam pressure setting for them when they sounded them. |
