I thought this was a interesting & a harsh fact but, THey were charged for the lifebelts bcuz so many were lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No kidding they charged them for the lifeboats! I can't believe you didn't know that! If the lifeboat regulations were checked or revised sooner or before Titanic set sail, they wouldn't have had that problem! From what I've read, Thomas Andrews called for 60 some lifeboats! That kept changing because the designers thought the decks would look too cluttered. The number of lifeboats just got lower each time until they were only 4 lifeboats over the required number! If they had enough lifeboats to save everybody, including all the crew, they probably wouldn't have been charged for the lifeboats. That would be because all those lives wouldn't have been lost! They also wouyldv'e had an easier time saving everybody if... 1) they had a lifeboat drill so everybody knew where to go && 2) if they actually had enough room for everybody and weren't under filling the lifeboats! One lifeboat only left with 5 passengers and 7 crew! Amazing isn't it! Just comes to show you how serious and nerve racking the situation really was!

they changed a lot of things after Titanic sank.....

true as the olympic had a mass refit in which the most notceable was the amont of lifeboats on her as they made it enouth for everyone on bored the vessel. they also made the water tight bulkheads hiyer and exstended the double skin up the vessl in which the olympic enede up heaveyer then the titanic once the refit was done. also they changed the deck layout on top of the olympic so she had the facilities that the titanic had in 1912
