I know they ended up in NY on the docks, then disappeared, but the supposed theory that White Star Lines re-commissioned them on other ships seems ridiculous. I mean, wouldn't it be recorded by White Star Lines if they had done that? No one seems to know where they went or what happened to them. There must be a paper trail for them somewhere. Has anyone ever read anything? This is the last I've read:

I think I remember reading that the lifeboats had their nameplates removed when they were in New York (some were stolen I think), then when they were returned, they were indeed put on other White Star ships, including Olympic.
Olympic's crew was in a sense of panic I guess, because the crew actually went on strike until more lifeboats were added. So does it make sense that maybe the other White Star giant get priority over Titanic's lifeboats? |
