here is the information i have on Katie Mullen. i hope it helps some.

Catherine Mullen was travelling with her neighbour, 17 year old Katerine Gilnagh.
Catherine was known as Kate and had been born in Rhyne, County Longford Ireland. on May 29th 1890, she was christened on the same day.
in 1912, she was 21 years old.
the daughter of Thomas Mullen and Mary Duignan. Thomas was a farmer. Kate was sister to Patrick, Rose, John, Elizabeth Brigid, Thomas and John.
Kate was going to America in the hope of becoming a domestic servant. she was going to stay with her sister at 231, East 50th Street.

The girls travelled from County Longford to Dublin. At Dublin, they met another group of travellers from Longford, who would also be travelling on Titanic.
Kate held a third class ticket. (number 35852)
Kate shared cabin 161 in section Q of E deck, with Katie Gilnagh, Margaret Mannion and Ellen Mockler.

Katie Gilnagh was reading her prayer book when the ship struck the iceberg. Disturbed by the
collision she ventured into the corridor, but could discern nothing but the babble of different
languages. James Farrell arrived and suggested that the girls dress, and get their bags ready.
Miss Gilnagh, Miss Mullen and the Galway room companions were also joined by companions
of Miss Mannion and Miss Mockler, Martin Gallagher, Thomas Kilgannon and Thomas Smyth.
They then left the cabin to head for the upper decks. On the way they met several stewards. One
told them to put on lifebelts, but another advised them to retire to bed again. Taking the advice
of the first steward they found lifebelts, and once again began to look for away up to the upper
decks.
The group began to climb the third class stairs that would lead them into second class. Ahead
of them they found a barrier, which a member of the ship342200231s crew was guarding. At first he
refused to let the girls through, but Jim cried out. 342200234Great God, man! Open the gate and let the
girls through!342200235 The man meekly obeyed. Kate Mullen remembered that the men simply broke
down the gate and then attacked the crew member, a memory shared by Margaret Mannion.
The group managed to find their way to the boat deck, where the men quickly helped the girls
into the lifeboat number 16, the lifeboat furthest aft on the port side. Somehow in the crowd,
Katie Gilnagh became separated from the others, and when she arrived at the edge of the deck
found Kate Mullen already seated in the boat.
Kate Mullen felt that the boat was full, and that they were like 342200230eggs in a box342200231. The girls tried to
keep warm, but found it difficult in the penetrating cold, with water in the bottom of the boat.
At dawn the occupants of the lifeboat were picked up by the Carpathia. Kate Mullen found
herself well treated on the rescue ship, and supplied with fresh clothes. The Carpathia brought
the survivors to New York, where both Katie Gilnagh and Kate Mullen were assisted by the
Women342200231s Relief Committee and the Red Cross. The Women342200231s Relief Committee gave each girl
$50 Katie Gilnagh was awarded a further $100 by the Red Cross. Kate Mullen, who had lost
clothing and jewellery valued at $650, and $140 in cash, was given $950. The Red Cross noted
that she was suffering severely from shock and exposure, and feared that she would be
permanently disabled.
Kate Mullen also settled in New York, becoming, in time, Mrs Martin J. Kearns. The couple
raised four children, Margaret, John, Mary and Eileen. Kate Mullen died in New York on
November 1st 1970. She was buried in St. Raymond342200231s Cemetery, the Bronx.

Hi, I just got the role of Kate McGowan at my theater school, and I'm having a really hard time finding information. I know thats not her real name, but I can't figure out if if her real name was Kate Gilnagh or Annie McGowan. The only Kate McGowan on the ship was in her 40's and I know thats not what I'm looking for. In the show theres a friendship between Kate Mullins, Kate Murphy, and Kate McGowan as well as a love afair between McGowan and James Farell. I was wondering if any of this was true, and if she was really pregnant. I just want some info to help me develop my character. If you could help me that would me great. Thanks!
