You may have heard about the naming of the 'Unknown Child' buried in Halifax cemetary. Can anyone confirm or deny that scientists have discovered the identity of the child through dna samples. If if it's true then why is there little posted about it on the internet?

Thanks all,

Lightholler :?:

:?: Is it actually possible for any remains to have been tested for identity?
It just seems to me that after all these years there wouldn't be anything left.
Although, it is quite interesting to further inquire about.

they identified the "unknown child" as 13month old Eino Viljami Panula, he, along with his mother and 4 brothers perished.
The scientists who exhumed the grave found a small piece of bone and three teeth. Eino was recovered by the crew of the Mackay-Bennet, they were so moved by the little soul that they paid for him to have a proper funeral, upon arrival in halifax, he was placed on a bed of roses in a small white casket, he was put in the middle of the bodies of the unclaimed women, as if they were symbolically his carers in death. the crew members who recovered him were the pall-bearers at his funeral, and ironically, they placed a brass plaque on his body, with the words "our babe" which, for 90 years would protect that piece of bone which led to his identification.
