Hey guys, It's my first post and I'd like to know something about Titanic and I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I've just finished watching the Titanic movie(Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet one) and I was wondering, did that actually happen on the real Titanic? Was it an actual story that really did happen on the Titanic years ago or is was this just a made-up story for the Titanic movie? Please help me out :D

The story of Jack and Rose is completely made up. The charachters Rose and Jack are made up as well as Ruth, Lovejoy and Cal.

Molly Brown, Astor, Guggenheim, The Strausses and ofcourse Smith and the officers are all real. And ofcourse the story of the Titanic is real with it hitting an iceberg and sinking and all. But the Jack and Rose love story, completely made up. As is the Heart of the ocean.

However there was a couple, Kate Phillips and Henry Morsely who were traveling in 2nd class, he gave her a necklace similar to the Heart of the ocean just as she was getting on a lifeboat. Some say Cameron based the Heart of the ocean off the one given to Kate Phillips although I'm not sure about that.

Also, while Jack's name was Jack Dawson, people believe there really was a Jack Dawson on Titanic as there's a J.Dawson on the passenger/crew list. It's actually trimmer Joseph Dawson who went down with the ship. He's buried in Halifax and after the film was released girls swarmed to Halifax and covered the graves in Flowers thinking it was Leo or Jack Dawson..

Perhaps it is a pure coinsidence but there was two people of those names. One was called Jack D and another called Rosie a think.

But the idea of the film was completly concockted bt cammeron, Appart from the ship and the event.

However these names I listed did not come from an official survivers list so this can be discredited.

True but the film did revolve around him. So true it would as u put it suck. Just Kate winslet on screen for 3 and a bit hours.

I know that was true, but the events followed as they seen them. We did't see all the things u saw in 'a night to remember'. Eventhough the 97 one liiked better, u really did't see much.
