Hey there,

I know the hull was made from steel, but i was wondering if anyone knows how the composition of it contributed to the sinking, or if anyone has any links that have useful info.

Thanks.

In tests carried out after the fact, the Titanic was revealed to be made of rather brittle steel, which may have warped at the cold temperatures of the ocean in which the Titanic was sailing at the time of her sinking. It's been suggested that her steel plates may have bent, snapped or warped at the pressure of the iceburg, as opposed to the iceburg actually ripping a hole in the side. This has been supported by evidence from the ship itself.

Not by 1912 standards.

Best regards,

Mark.
