[quote:6fdf0ee69b="rose89"]this is not exactly on the topic but i think that if they hit the iceberg with the nose of the ship then they wouldnt have sank. but thats my opinion.[/quote:6fdf0ee69b]

I did see something about steel characteristics on Discovery or National Geographic; the composition was indeed worse than it should be even on that day when the Titanic was built.
Steel purity requires alot of energy and technology, so its logic that ships today are harder to sink than the day of Titanic. |

I've done alot of reading on the Titanic a long time ago, and do remember some thing about a fire that was thought to be in her bow... but I don't remember a boiler being in the bow. Did she hit the iceberg where the fire was thought to be??? or behind where it was thought to be??? If they didn't know about a fire in the bow before they hit the berg, and they knew that they were hurt bad enough to sink...I would think that they would be more worried about getting out of there than checking on a fire up front. Was there a boiler up front???
