Did the band play music to the very end or is this yet another made up yarn?

[b:80e0cb5391]A while back i had read something basically considering them to be the heros because they played till they could play no more. I am sure we could consider alot of the workers heros, therefore some have tried thier best i'm sure.[/b:80e0cb5391]

Yes, they did indeed play until the end. But, the last song they played is debated. Some say it was " Nearer My God to Thee"...and others say it was " Autumn"

i like "nearer my god to thee". its a very good song and even if they didnt play it in the end, cameron did a good job of choosing that song. its very good.

They played until they could not play anymore, which was up until the end.

Oh, I thought James Horner was in charge of the music things?

i have a book that says that james cameron picked that song. i think that horner gave him a choice between the original and that version in the movie and cameron chose what we listened to.

Actually, Cameron didn't intend to even have a theme song. Horner just made it and hoped he'd like it. In fact, he wasn't even done with it when Cameron barged one day and heard it and asked what it was for....when Horner said, hopefully the theme, and Cameron agreed.

Horner was in charge of creating all the music in the film, such as Southampton, A Shore Never reached, etc.. Music such as the ones the band played (Wedding Dance, Nearer My God To Thee, Ragtime, etc) were based on historical documents and Survivor testiments, Horner had nothing to do with those.

Cameron did not want a theme song. Horner made My Heart Will Go on, approached Celine to do a Demo tape and she agreeed. Horner gave it to Cameron, he liked it and the rest is history. A little unknown fact: The version in the movie, on the soundtrack and on Celine's Let's Talk About Love is the original FIRST recording Celine did. IT was never re-recorded. The music was digitally placed in later..
