Well I've never heard of that before but I have heard a similar story. Just as they were loading the passengers at Southampton a mother to one passenger forbid that he went on the maiden voyage. She said that she did not trust maiden voyages because they can sometimes end in disaster so she made him pull away at the last minute, regardless of his protesting. Just imagin how much of a lecture his mother gave him when they found out the ship sank!

I've heard a version of both of those. And the all famous, a woman in 1st class I believe it was didn;t trust the ship. She was so fixed on the idea that something would go wrong that she wouldn't sleep at night, and only slept during the days. Actually, I believe it was Eva Hart's mother. I think...don't quote me on that though.

you are correct NosieRosie, it was Esther Hart who was travelling second class. she took breakfast with her family in the morning, and then went to sleep. she would wake when it got dark and would sit up and read or sew while her husband and daughter slept. it sounds strange but that Lady's theory was correct.
a first class lady, i *think* it was Rene Harris was told by a man that the ship was a bad omen and that if she had any sense, she would get off at queenstown like he was going to. that man was John Coffey.

:D [b:d27c554d87] The name of the tape is "The Fateful Night".
And there is another, i don't think it is of the survivors though. It's called "A Night To Remember", by Walter Lord, i just found that one today while looking for the other so i can get you the name.[/b:d27c554d87]
