Collie- Keep in mind the Titanic was in the middle of an Icefield. Had it tried to go near the Californian they'd be doing possibly more damage by having to go through the icefields when she was already damaged pretty badly. Not to mention I'm not sure about this but I'd imagine if they continued through the water it'd made her sink faster..

I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you mean making full speed?

Hi!

I was asking about Rose's question. I am not sure what she's asking, but wondered if she was asking how it was possible for a ship to make full speed even with flooding? Or was the question aimed at someone else? Sorry for any confusion.

With regard to Californian, I don't know of any primary sources that indicate that Second Officer Stone thought the rockets were part of a celebration -- to my mind that impression was created in the 1990s when there was such a boom in interest. Reading through the enquiries in 1912, there is no mention of a party, unless we take the question asked at Mersey's court, which was: [i:d480a1d2d2]'you knew they [the rockets] were not being sent up for fun?'[/i:d480a1d2d2]

Kindest regards,

Mark.

Mark ive posted this one before you may have answered it but ill ask again as id like to hear what you think. When titanic hit the ice parts fell on to the deck passengers played with it so that tell us that the ice was some hight above and below the water then why did the people not climb of titanic and wait there they could have brough materess and blankets i myself can only guess that the burg must have been like a witchs hat and not flat but when they realised that titanic was going to sink why didnt they try searching for a suitable flatish berg. May be this is a silly question but thats what i would have done.
