Someone already said this , but I'll say it again; it's entirely possible for Jack and Rose to sleep together. They're teens for one, and for two there are people who sleep together even on their first dates (sometimes being the soul purpose of a "date"). Yes, even in the Edwardian era people did that, although not even close to as often as it is done now. I agree that part of the point of these scenes (mainly the art scene) was to sell the movie. Personally I think the scenes fit well in the movie.

thank you

I think that the art section was not there to sale the movie but to show how much art sank with the titanic and how much cal disapproved of rose's taste in things through the whole film he treated her like a little kid.

fact: in the 1800 and early 1900s most women were married before they were 18 and were thought of as adult by the time most were 16 so she was not a kid and i mean a kid of like 6yrs old i would guess cal to be closer to 30

i didnt say anthing negative. but what i dont understand is why they chose her as rose. dont get me wrong, shes beautiful, but somehow she just doesnt come across as a 17 yrold. not to me at least. i thought she was about 25 when i first saw the movie.

yeah they really needed a younger actress to play rose. Kate wilsow looks to old to be 17yrs. they do that in a lot of movies.

leo was around 20, so he was good. but kate played her role well. and i dare say, that her body certainly did not look like she was older than 20.

Well, I'm not going to argue with you all. She DOES look older than 17, but keep in mind the era she was playing. Women often married very young and were mothers very young. So, to us she didnt' look 17 because we think of a 17 year old as a high school student still living at home. Back then a 17 year old was a wife and mother. She looked exactly the age she was playing to someone of that time period.
Look at Madeline Astor. She was roughly the same age, was married and expecting a child when she was on the Titanic.
