Im guessing that they ran out of business shortly after the britannic sinking. And they went bankrupted.

well thanks,

Its seem that White stars had a bad curse in that time when the company went to bankrupty. More than 3 ships sink in those times and titanic was the worst sinking ship of that company.

The losses of Titanic and Britannic were devastating for White Star, yet they did endure for a period. They still had Olympic which proved to be a very popular ship, apparently a favourite of Charlie Chaplin. They also recieved two of Germany's liners, the Bismarck and Homeric, as compensation for their wartime loss of Britannic. White Star was still a viable and very popular line after World War I. Although their ships flew the British flag, they were still owned by J.P. Morgan Interests in America until 1926. The Great Depression was what really ruined White Star. By 1935 they needed to join forces with their rival the Cunard Line forming the Cunard White Star Line. They needed to consolidate their fleets and so they eliminated unnecessary or outdated ships. They sent Olympic and Mauretania to the breakers that year. By the 1950's White Star vanished into the Cunard Line. Cunard is still in business today which really says something.

I think the "true" end of the White Star Line, was in 1960 when MV Britannic (3) the last White Star ship to sail for Cunard White Star/Cunard was sold for scrap.

But in a way White Star is not entirely gone because Cunard is still there and Cunard sometimes use the name White Star for certain things eg White Star Service®.
