Hi All,

I see a lot of posts about the movie "Titanic". Another great Titanic movie is " A Night to Remember". Let me say that this movie was made in 1958 so it doesn't have the effects "Titanic" has. You will also see that there are some facts not yet idebtifies in this movie also. I won't ruin it for you.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

I had that film and i like it because is a true story and does not have ficcion characters like james cameron films's titanic. The thing i didn't like about this films that titanic didn't break apart in two pieces.

Jack Thayer reported Titanic broke in half, but until Ballard found the wreck, there was no actual confirmation of this-
I still think ANTR is the best of the Titanic films- :pint:

I like A Night to Remember. But I don't compare it to the Cameron film based on the simple fact that both tackle the same story from totally different perspectives. The only complaints I could have against A Night to Remeber are its depiction of Baker Charles Jaughin as a stumbling drunk and the detached way in which they had Andrews tell Captain Smith that the ship was doomed. I'd imagine that a person who was so meticulous that he felt that there were "too few screws in the stateroom coat hooks" would be a little more affected by the fact that his creation was doomed.

Hi Isambard,

I just want to go over a few points you made.

I thought the baker was depicted very well in the movie. In my opinion he was the smartest person on the ship. He drank to keep warm. If it wasn't for the fact that he was drunk, he waould have died when he went in to the water.

As far as Thomas Andrews is concerned, you have to remember that they were in an era when people had to act in a more professional, responsible manor. He couldn't run into the captain's stateroom and yell "we are all going to die!". Another reason he acted so calmly was because I don't think "the impossible" was sinking(no pun intended) into his brain yet.

It was a movie dramatisation based on a true story and twisted somewhat to create the high grosscing film it was and still is.
