Either when I am watching the movie(s), or reading about the ship, I do feel sad at times but nothing of what you describe as a horrible sinking feeling.

It may sound weired, but since I have been interested in the Titanic for most of my life, I associate the story with being a topic that brings comfort and joy into my life.

The ship and it's story have greatly influenced my life. When I was a child, I went through some tough times, so when I became familiar with the Titanic at age 7, I think I associated with some of the emotions that are tied in with the story.

As I grew up and started to read about all of the lessons the world could learn from the disaster, I began to see Titanic as a "mini- guide to life", and to always remember and reflect on what happened, who acted correctly, who acted irresponsibly, and of course the ultimate lesson (the unthinkable can happen).

So therefore, now a days, I do not become overwhelmed with sadness, but more reverence and respect and a wonderful feeling that the ship still means something to the world and can continue to teach humanity, if humanity will take the time to learn about her.

Wow! I never saw it like that! That's some deep thoughts there. Well said, MGY Friend.

I feel weird when I watch it like that I can't breath and I let out a sob. There aren't any tears but I just kinda gasp instead of crying. It's odd. I can't get enough of Titanic though. It's just such an interesting subject. I feel like no matter how many times I watch it or how much I learn about it that I'll never completely understand and that they has to be something more to learn. There is always more information about Titanic just laying ahead. Even though it's sad, it makes me feel good. I feel like I have something to care about and I don't feel so empty and dumb. But I'm not dumb. If I can really just find something interesting and cool then that makes me feel wonderful. I must sound like a loser but I am having a hard time explaining this.

sincerely, Kelly.

xkitten14x, you feel what many of us feel. Nothing to feel bad about.

When we learn about Titanic, we are comforted that there was an occurance like that disaster that did happen, and that we can learn from.

Lets face it, the absolute unthinkable happend, the pride of the early 20th century was shattered to pieces within a matter of hours by about 12 square feet of damage from ice.

We live in the modern world and there are many wonderful things to help us live a better life, technology one of them.

But with all of these advances in medicines, space exploration, or computers, we still know that the absolute unthinkable can happen, whether it be September 11th, or a breakup with a person you always thought you would always be together with.

In some ways, 2006, is not really that different from 1912. We put our livelyhoods in the faith of machines (cars, computers, cell phones, ipods or whatever), and we live in a world that can erupt into chaos any minute.

There is one difference though. Back in 1912, as Walter Lord stated "They were confident" (that is, they thought they were about to solve most of the worlds biggest problems). Look what happened after the Titanic- two years later WWI started.

Today, we know that we cannot create a perfect world, and there will always be death and destruction. So knowing about the Titanic, or any other horrible disaster lets us know that life does have its low points but life does go on.

Sometimes I feel a horrible sinking feeling watching the movie and seeing all the great people that died i get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach like all of titanics ghosts are floating beside me. But other times I have a very happy feeling during the first aprt of the movie like the people are falling in love and everything is all happy and then the second disk the mood suddenly changes and when jack dies I get the horrible sinking feeling like now you feel how people whos family or friends died felt because you always think of titanic as a legendary sinking and you dont always think of it as tragic.

when i watch the sinking i just look at the ignorance everyone had in thi ssituation. even though it was sad. some people were just too selfish. && class didnt matter.

1st class people just because they have money shudnt be put on first just because of that,

the poor and rich both had a soul and life.
