The lack of binoculars didn't help either. My only question: what does the poll have to do with the question?

It was an iceberg. How could anyone come to this conclusion? Ice was thrown on the to Forecastle of the ship. And yes, she was going to fast...obviously. And would you look at the time. 11:40pm April 14th.

as most pepole know the titanic had a fire in the bulkheads froom being handed other by harland wolf to white star line aka oceanic navagation steam co, and by right the builders should of put the fire out before letting the ship out to sea if they was a fire in one of the maian bunkers especialy one thats nexts to the water tight doors as thius can cause serious damage with metal as metal melts at a cetain temputure and the temputure in the boiler room world of being hummid anyway and witth a bunker fire makes it even worst to work in, ALSO THE TITANIC WAS STEAMING TOWARDS NEW YORK that night about 21 to 22 knots some people say that the titanic was steaming about 23 knots in an ice f3eld whhich in them days it was the case as the longer your in a ice field the more peple that have to be on deck to keepwatch on certain vessels in them days captains had offercer on the bow doing look outt dutes but the titanic only had the ones in the crows nest in which was a mistake that night and also it world of being better for the titanic to hit the iceberg as itt world of not proberly sunk if it stuck the iceberg head on or murdock could of nott reveresd the engine and just port away froom it instead of tryibng tio use the ice perg as an apex like an car which the titanic is not the avarage sizee of your every day mottor car lol;

Correct me if I'm wrong *lol*

I dont think that happened. It was the doing of the aliens and the mummy.

i think it hit the iceberg because they were going way to fast and if they would slow down they could miss the iceberg but they had to make a speed record thats what i think

I remeber reading that the fire which was in Coal Bunker 10 (in boiler room 6) was already put out basically at the time of the collision. Aparently though, the fire warped the watertight bulkhead between rooms 6 and 5. Captain Smith was supposed to have told the engineers to rub grease on the area and keep and eye on it.

Author Charles Pellegrino stated that this critical bulkhead was probably made weaker by the fire, and allowed the bulkhead to give away. Aparently, when the ship filled up to boiler room 6, the hull gained almost equilibrium, and the sinking almost came to a standstill.

I must concure with you MGY Friend, I think it was the iceberg and nothing much more. Now having said that I think the fire in the coal bunker may have had a part in it. As the ice cold water hit the fire it could have caused some kind of mini explosion inside the ship adding to the problem. certanly not the cause though. As far as the curse of the mummy lets leave that one to Hollywood.
