Yes I love the Titanic because, it is a sad place to be that night, watching hundreds of people die. Close your eyes and imagine you were on board the Titanic. Your in a 2nd class dining room. The engines stops and you feel getting pushed to the right. You suddenly feel like you hit some kind of island. You figured out that Titanic is sinking. What will you do next. For me the appeal is the sheer magnitude of Titanic. So many people died and the lives of those left behind were changed forever. The ship of dreams turned into a night of horror for those onboard. What would I have done that night? I have thought about this many times, truth be told..I don't know. I hope I am never in a situation like that.

My high school girl friend had dropped out (it was during my junior or senior year). I grabbed a book off the bookshelf (any book - I wanted to get her off my mind. You know - lose myself in a book). It turned out to be "A Night To Remember" by Walter Lord. From there, I was hooked on Titanic. Thanks Mr. Lord!  Since then, I rarely think of my former girl friend, but there are times  That was my introduction to Titanic. Now I grab any Titanic book just to learn more about the disaster. |
