Many people on this website believe that taking artifacts from the Titanic shipwreck is wrong, because people think it is disturbing a gravesite.

However, is our constant filming of the shipwreck disrespectful the the ship as well?

Other shipwrecks like the U.S.S. Arizona and Edmund Fitzgerald do not allow dives into the wreck out of respect for the dead.

Should we treat Titanic like this too?

We can say that taking photos causes no harm but this may not be the case. Submersables landing on the boatdeck may be causing the deck to crumble more quickly than usual.

When people like James Cameron send their ROVs into the ship, they constantly knock down rusticles and bump into things.

If Titanic is going to be considered a Tomb, then why don't we keep out of her?

i agree that taking artifacts and landing submersible on titanic is disrespectful, but in my opinion taking photos and filming titanic will help us remember how beautiful she was and is, as a ship and a gravesite.

and to remind us of a horrible tragity, and all the people lost.

i'm not sure if i would like people filming my grave or taking pictures of it, but i would rather be remembered then forgotten...

Ema here,

Well I think it is not. You should do it when ever you want. In fact it is cool to film it.

Your cool poster,

I must agree. In fact, I say film and photogragh every nook and cranny of the ship, but whatever you do, DON'T TOUCH! The artifacts belong to those who were lost with Titanic. I strongly believe that a photo of the wreck and artifacts has a stronger impact than a warehouse full of Titanic artifacts. Taking items from the wreck, where history put them, takes away the importance of the item.

Let Titanic (and those lost) rest in peace.

Just for sake of argument, if Titanic is a tomb, they why is it ok to film every nook and cranny of the ship?

I believe this is a major contradiction in the grave site desecration issue.

If Titanic is a tomb, seal her off like the Arizona and Edmund Fitzgerald!!!

Its the same curiosity of wanting to see her interiors that is causing people to want to see her artifacts on the surface!

By the way, not trying to be a wise guy at all. Just trying to spurr interesting debate

If Titanic is a tomb, then people should respect that and not film anything inside the ship.
Outside is fine, thats open for all to have a look. Keeping in mind its 2.5 miles under the atlantc ocean!!!
I see nothing wrong with exterior filming. Just like taking a picture of JFK'S grave or Jim Morrison, or Marilyn Monroe or dare I say it Elvis. No harm no foul.
Inside is a whole different story, and needs to be respected as a place mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny people died.
