Birkenhead stars as Belfast in TV docu-drama on Titanic Jan 24 2005

AS THE great ship hit the iceberg and sank, its stern rose high above the water to show one word - Liverpool. The iconic image came from James Cameron's film Titanic and was a reference to the fact that the doomed liner was registered in the city.
While that is the strongest tie to the ship Merseyside had, the location has now been used to build a replica for a TV programme.
The multi-million pound show used Birkenhead as a double for Belfast, where the ship was originally built.
Shipbuilders reconstructed part of the side of the Titanic at Cammell Laird shipyard, which was mocked up as the famous Harland and Wolff yard, in Belfast.
