It's true, the Olympic class liners where designed to withstand a head on collision, Only compartments 1, 2 and possibly 3 would of been flooded, meaning she could make it to New York city. Or at least allow for passengers to be all taken off, but if they did hit it head on then Murdoch would have been in a lot of trouble, and am afraid this is just hindsight.

I would think that it owuld have been better that way though. Some people may have dies, but it couldnt have been near as many as did because it sank.

they weren't planning on 1500 ppl dying so a few lives is still bad for publicity

From what I have heard if she did hit the iceberg 'head on' the bow would have buckled at a certian distance. And that she may have survived the impact.

Well, if she did hit head on, it would have only breached the mail hold and many more would have survived, because with only one compartment breached, she would have stayed afloat, when Murdoch tried to portround her, he thought the rutter was big enought to turn the ship, the rutter being as small as it was, he needed more distance in order to turn and grazed the iceburg...

if the iceburg had been spotted a minute earlier then she would hav probly missed it and I wouldn't know a lot of great people
