Jack was completly made up, rose was apparantly a passenger, however james cameron made this rose up. She was loosley based on his grandmother's (no his gran wasn't on titanic) charector.
Knowone knows what happened to smith, the 1997 film depicted him staying at the helm of the ship, this is the honourable and deemed most fittin for smith, therefor is probably the most popular one to belive. Though witneses claimed tht smith swam to a lifeboat and handed in a baby, asked if there was room, told no and he swam away, and wasnt seen again. Perhaps he did this, then went to the bridge and took his fate, seems to make sense. As for murdoch.........Bit strange that one really, I dont think his body was recovered, apparantly it was witnessed he killed him self, however, the eye witness testimony of Titanic survivers is very inconsistent. Up to you to draw your own conclusion. |

There is no way of knowing if Murdoch killed himself, and I feel bad for his family today who has his memory tainted by this speculation. As I remember, one of the biggest reasons for speculating that it was he who committed suicide was that the eyewitnesses who apparently saw this shooting were around the forward starboard boat deck. That would put Murdoch in that vicinity.
The other speculation is that it may have been the Captain who shot himself. This is marred because I think Harold Bride saw him dive into the water when the bridge became submerged. One other possiblility that Walter Lord has speculated is that it might have been Chief Officer Wilde who shot himself. Lord stated that we do not know much of what he did that night and that his actions and fate are some what of a mystery. |
