I really don't think that he survived, but how many of you think that its possible that he may have jumped off, but got sucked down with the ship? Otherwise it seems that his body would have been found when the search party came looking through the bodies for live ones.

-or- (other option)

Do you think, out of feeling guilty for not having enough lifeboats and etc, he stayed in the wheelhouse?

-or-

Was it, as mentioned before, the "romantic" ending that the movie portrays and thats it.....?

He probably went down with the ship, if he jumped out they would find his body.

Most accounts place him going down with the ship and his body was never found.

Do you know of anywhere that theres proof to back up the fact that they found his body or what was left of it? I would like to see any proof of that (e.g. a website link, a book reference, anything). Thank you :)

I like to see the reference too...everything I have ever read said no body was ever recovered but then again I'm still finding books now and again that I have not read.

He wasn't found. If his body was ever found, it would be well known where he is buried, or what happened to his body.

It also isn't something that would have been hidden. It would have been a curiosity for people to go see where he was buried, and if the location was kept secret, in the last 90 years, his gravesite would have been found and publicized.
