Do you think that not chritening the ships had something to do with their fate?

They made a ton of money from Olympic, it was scrapped because it was no longer economically viable to white star. One reason for this is because of the restriction's now in place about immigration. So a large liner was not really needed, and certainly not an old one like that. Olympic even after Titanic was seen as the way to cross the Atlantic, for a number of years, so I disagree about them loosing money after scraping it.

Yes that is a shame, however all is not lost. There is one small possibility to see one of the three great ships. The Brittanic does not lie too deep as far as I know. With the right diving experience and equipment it just might be possible to dive the wreck. Certainly this will be within reach compaired to the Titanic which is nearly 3miles down. If I had the cash I would do it in a heartbeat. I guess I'll be playing the lottery this weekend then...

I can remember as a kid how I couldn't understand why the funnels were gone from the wreck but the masts were still in place. Surely the masts were higher than the funnels and therefor one would expect them to have detached as was the case with the funnels. Why were all four funnels missing?
